Vizard is a Java client for information visualization. I wrote it as an undergrad at the University of Arizona for a research project within the Center for Management of Information. The project was funded by DARPA and NSF. In late 90’s, Java was transitioning from AWT to Swing, the toolkit wasn’t as fully developed yet. Drag-n-drop in a Swing tree was a bit of pain to deal with.
Vizard is capable of taking large amount textual infomration (imagine a war situation where commander receives texts from different warships in a rapid fashion), intelligently categorizing and prioritizing them, finally visually presenting the information in 2-d or 3-d infomration blocks. Commander can click on the information block and zoom into it for more details (subclustering).
Enjoy some Java Swing treat from late 90s!
